In a healthy republic, a sustainable society means more than just civility—it means protecting the democratic institutions that make our country strong, inclusive, and enduring. It means making sure that every American, in every zip code, has an equal voice and a real stake in the outcome of our elections.
And that starts with ending partisan gerrymandering—engineered by both political parties to rig outcomes and silence voters. It’s not just a problem in red states or blue states. It’s a problem everywhere. When politicians choose their voters instead of voters choosing their representatives, democracy erodes. I have an innovative plan to end partisan gerrymandering, to ensure accurate representation in every election, and to protect the voters from the whims of both political parties — plain and simple.
And we must do more to protect the democratic institutions that keep our republic functioning. That means defending the independence of our courts, restoring trust in our elections, and pushing back against political violence and disinformation. It means respecting the peaceful transfer of power and holding leaders accountable—regardless of party—when they break the public trust. Democracy is not a given; it’s a system we have to actively protect every day.
I believe that basic healthcare is a human right. No one should have to choose between paying the rent and seeing a doctor, or between buying medicine and putting food on the table. A healthy society and a prospering economy depends on ensuring that every person — no matter their income, age, or background — has access to quality, affordable care. Protecting health means protecting dignity, and it is a responsibility we must uphold together.
But a sustainable society doesn’t stop at the ballot box. It also means protecting one of the most fundamental human rights we have—and that’s the right to privacy.
These rights are under attack—from state legislatures, from corporate profiteers, from authoritarian ideologues—and we need to say clearly: enough.
That’s the republic I believe in. And that’s the future we can build—together.
